Robert Webb

Robert Webb was born and brought up in North Yorkshire. He was educated at Cambridge University, where he was a Choral Scholar at Selwyn College and Assistant Organist at the University Church of Great St. Mary's. He was also a lay clerk in Chester Cathedral. Following a career in the Law, Robert moved to Oxfordshire in early 1997 to follow a full time career in music. While in Oxfordshire Robert was Director of Music of the Cathedral Singers of Christ Church, Director of Music of Wallingford Parish Church and Musical Director of Henley Choral Society.

Robert also composes, and his first major composition, a children's Christmas Cantata, "Come Follow Me!" co-written with writer Mellie Buse, won critical acclaim at its premiere performance in November 1998 in the Apollo Theatre, Oxford in aid of Save The Children. Many of his choral arrangements have been performed by choirs around the South East and his composition, "Wantage Bells", a setting of a poem by John Betjeman, received its first performance at a mass held on the 15th anniversary of the poet's death.

In 2003 Robert took up the position of Director of Music at St John's Church, Ranmoor near Sheffield.
